Kings Park Primary School pupils are putting their green thumbs and kitchen skills to work on account of a thriving onsite vegie garden.
The Kings Patch Garden program gives pupils across all year levels the chance to plant, water, mulch and harvest fruit and vegetables, which they then use to create healthy meals, such as special fried rice.
The garden has its own composting system, while roaming chickens supply fresh eggs.
The program has been running for more than a decade under the tutelage of gardener Son Luong.
“They can experience it all hands on,” Mr Luong says.
