Christopher ”Badness” Binse jailed over Keilor East siege

A career criminal caught by police after barricading himself inside his Keilor East house in 2012 has been jailed for at least 14 years.

Christopher ‘‘Badness’’ Binse, 45, will serve a maximum of 18 years and two months after pleading guilty to a long list of charges.

The Supreme Court heard Binse stole $235,000 from an armoured vehicle outside a Laverton hotel in
March 2012.

He then barricaded himself inside his Stirling Road house for 44 hours and fired shots at police before being arrested.

Last Friday, Justice Terry Forrest said Binse had a poor prospect of rehabilitation. Binse has spent 28 of the past 32 years in some form of detention.
