FUN FOR FUNDS

Join Gold 104.3 host Lehmo for an evening of entertainment at WestWaters Hotel in Caroline Springs on June 28. The night will raise funds for The Orange Pigeon, a local charity that grants wishes and provides comfort to adults with terminal or life-threatening illnesses. A performance by The Chantoozies will make it a night to remember. Tickets cost $49, which includes a three-course meal. On sale until June 21.

YOUTH THEATRE

Sunshine Community Theatre is hosting weekly children’s theatre activities from 4.30-5.30pm on Thursdays. Shine Youth Theatre gives kids of all ages a chance to learn acting skills, sight reading and production values. It’s at Dempster Park Hall, 82 Phoenix Street, North Sunshine. Cost: $5 per class, $40 a term.

CHINESE BRUSH PAINTING

Teenagers and adults can learn Chinese brush painting from a renowned artist as part of a six-week series at the Cairnlea Community Hub. Participants will be taught how to paint plants, birds, fish, small animals and insects using Chinese ink and watercolours on rice paper. Classes start this Thursday. From 4.15-6.15pm. Cost: $45.

SONS OF THE WEST

Brimbank men who want to eat and live healthier, and perhaps drop a shirt size, are being invited to join the Western Bulldogs’ free men’s health initiative, Sons of the West. Brimbank council will launch the 12-week program with a registration expo at Visy Cares Hub, 80b Harvester Road, Sunshine from 6.30-8pm on Monday.

Brimbank students are being given the chance to win work placements with some of Australia’s top companies in a new Victoria University competition. Year 10 and 11 students can secure a placement and valuable mentoring opportunities with companies including the Mushroom Group, Nova FM, Honda, Just Group and Leo Burnett. Entries close June 6.
