Brimbank residents will have another chance to have their say on the future of the council’s building in Keilor.
Keilor-based council staff will be relocated to the new $52 million Community and Civic Centre in Sunshine, which is expected to open in 2016.
VicTrack has had preliminary talks with the council about the sale and future use of the Sunshine council offices.
Brimbank chairman John Watson toldStar Weekly in April he was confident the Keilor building would remain in the hands of the community.
“We’re not planning to sell,” he said. “The community has made it clear they want a community hub in Keilor.”
The seven-member Keilor office building community consultative committee will receive suggestions on the building’s future following two consultation sessions in Keilor Village earlier this month and a workshop today at Keilor Park Hall from 6-8pm.
“Lots of great ideas and enthusiasm has come out of the Keilor community at council’s consultation sessions regarding future use of the Keilor office building,” said community well-being director Neil Whiteside.
All information will go into a draft “Keilor office building future use concept plan”, to be released later this year. It will be open to comment from residents.
