A woman was treated for smoke inhalation after fire broke out at a Sunbury house while residents were inside.
CFA fire services controller Glenn Thompson said a number of people were inside the McKell Avenue brick house when a fire started at 9.30pm.
There were initial fears of several casualties after explosions were heard, but Mr Thompson said fortunately only one woman needed to be treated for smoke inhalation.
He said the explosions could have occurred when aerosol cans reacted to the extreme heat inside.
Mr Thompson said it was too early to say if the fire was suspicious.
Seven fire trucks were called to respond with firefighters taking 10 minutes to control the blaze.
