Operation Reassurance hit the streets of Sunshine last week.
Officers from the Brimbank proactive policing unit and safer communities taskforce joined forces with Pacific Islander and African community representatives, walking the streets to chat with shoppers and young people in the area.
Sergeant Michael Haschka said the foot patrol was about reassuring residents, business owners and shoppers in Sunshine’s central business district that police were on the ball following a recent spate of street attacks.
Last month, a man in his 20s was stabbed at Sunshine railway station. “It was great to see communities working together to take ownership of issues important to them, understanding they are always strongly supported by local police,” Sergeant Haschka said.
