Three outstanding leisure projects in Brimbank have received major accolades and are now in line for national honours.
Brimbank council won three awards at the Parks and Leisure Australia Victoria 2014 Awards of Excellence for the development of Alice’s Playspace at Errington Reserve in St Albans, the annual Brimbank Cup soccer tournament and its innovative online sports facility allocation system.
Held in Geelong on April 30, the awards recognise the outstanding initiatives and innovations which promote and enhance opportunities for the good use of leisure time for a number of social, environmental and economic benefits to the community.
The council was awarded in three categories: Play Space Award; Inclusive and Connected Communities Award; and Use of Technology Award.
Each project awarded at the state level will now move on to be assessed as part of the National Parks and Leisure Awards which will be announced in late August.
