Almost a quarter of all planning breaches investigated by Brimbank council during the past three months involved land in a Sunshine North industrial estate.
While the total number (117) of reports was lower than for the same period last year, 20 per cent related to Sunshine North, mainly due to follow-up work by the council’s planning compliance unit in the North Sunshine Industrial Estate.
A council report revealed four landowners in Imperial Avenue were fined $2200 each for allowing their land to be used for an illegal recycling business. Another property owner in Auburn Avenue was fined $3000 for failing to comply with the planning scheme.
“The most common requests for service related to contravention of conditions and use of the land without a planning permit,” the report found.
