MICKLEHAM: Explosion causes severe hand injuries

A 29-year-old man has suffered significant injuries after a detonator exploded in his hands in Mickleham.

The man had been at his home on Farleigh Court in Mickleham when the explosion occured. 

Police say it appears some kind of detonator had gone off at the home at noon on Sunday, but the bomb squad is investigating the incident.

The man was treated for significant hand injuries and is recovering at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, an Ambulance Victoria spokesman said.
