Sunshine RSL to open commemorative garden for reflection

A new commemorative garden planned for Sunshine RSL Club will be a tourist attraction and a place to honour fallen soldiers, according to club president David Twidle.

He says the garden will provide enjoyment to veterans, their families, schools and the community. Plans for the garden include a storyboard identifying local World War I soldiers, which could later be extended to other conflicts.

Mr Twidle said the project was ready for a preferred start in September.

The club has applied to the federal government’s Anzac centenary grants program. The project is supported by Brimbank council, Sunshine Residents and Ratepayers Association, and Sunshine and District Historical Society.
