Yooralla is calling on designers across Australia and the globe to submit an entry into the YoorallaTEE t-shirt design competition.
The YoorallaTEE is a t-shirt design competition open to anyone anywhere who has the imagination to redefine how disability is perceived in society.
Entries close on April 24 and can be submitted at www.yooralla.com.au.
The top 10 finalists who create designs that best redefine disability will have them printed and sold on t-shirts in Dangerfield stores nationally and internationally online. They will also receive a share in $7000 in cash and prizes.
YoorallaTEE will be run online via 99designs and in partnership with Yooralla, Dangerfield, and the Father Bob Maguire Foundation. Last year’s competition received more than 1800 designs from around the world.
Yooralla Client Rights and Empowerment Practitioner and ambassador Tully Zygier encouraged all designers to get involved in changing the perception of disability.
“This year’s theme of ‘Redefine Disability’ asks artists and designers to change the image of disability by challenging traditional ideas and celebrating abilities,” she said.
“All you have to do is think about how you would redefine disability, create a t-shirt design, and enter the competition.”
Proceeds from the t-shirt sales will go towards Yooralla and the Father Bob Maguire Foundation.
Melbourne street artists and people with disability have created a special video to get people thinking about disability. See the video below:
