Australia Post van stolen, used in thefts across north-west

Police are appealing for public assistance after an Australia Post van was stolen and used in a number of thefts throughout the north-west, including Taylors Lakes.

The Mitsubishi express van was stolen from Winchester Street in Moonee Ponds around 10.30am on Tuesday, December 31.

The vehicle was used in a theft from a Taylors Lakes store on the Melton Highway, and the theft of a caravan at Heather Court, Melton on April 3.

Investigators believe the van, registration YSQ 483 has been involved in a number of thefts that occurred between January 28 and April 3.

The male offender is perceived to be of Middle Eastern or Indian appearance, aged in his late 20s-to-mid 30s, 170-175cm, with a medium build.

He was wearing a black cap, an orange fluro jumper with blue sleeves, black pants, runners and blue and black gloves.

Investigators from the Moonee Valley Vehicle Crime Reduction Team have released images of a man and stolen property that may assist with their enquiries.

Information to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
