An Ardeer man was able to escape a fire to his Ballarat Road property yesterday afternoon.
The man was sleeping when his bedding came into contact with an electric oil heater around 3pm.
He was attempted to extinguish the fire but it soon took hold of the front bedroom and he was forced to leave.
MFB firefighters were able to contain the fire to the single storey brick home in 15 minutes, however the rest of the house was affected by heat, water and smoke.
