Kealba-Green Gully’s bid for a North West Metropolitan Cricket Association Luscombe Shield three-peat fell short at the final hurdle.
The Cougars got a dose of their own medicine in a 127-run grand final defeat to Pascoe Vale Central at Jack Ginifer Reserve.
It was sweet revenge for Central, after losing to the Cougars in the two previous grand finals.
On both of those occasions, the Cougars won after compiling small totals, but it didn’t work out this time.
They were set a massive target of 283 for victory but were all out for 155.
Jarrod Catania was the pick of the Cougars bowlers with 5/83, while Tristan Krizanic had a strong all-round game with 40 and 2/45.
