Brimbank walkers are being urged to help improve the lives of sick kids at Sunshine Hospital. Western Health’s WalkWest will be held along the Maribyrnong River from Footscray Park to Riverside Park on Sunday, April 6.
Walkers can tackle a five-, 10- or 15-kilometre course, raising funds to support a $1.1 million refit of the Sunshine children’s ward. The 24-bed ward cares for more than 7300 kids, from toddlers to adolescents, each year.
Melbourne singer, TV host and comedian Em Rusciano visited the ward last Tuesday to encourage people to get walking for the children of the west. “This children’s ward desperately needs an upgrade and I’m doing WalkWest on April 6 to raise funds to make that happen,” she said.
