Doug Hawkins has become the fourth member of the Footscray-Western Bulldogs Hall of Fame to be given legend status.
Hawkins, a home-grown product from Braybrook, was unveiled as a legend at the club’s season launch at Crown Palladium last week, joining the illustrious group of Charlie Sutton, E.J. Whitten and John Schultz to be bestowed the honour.
Hawkins, 53, can look back fondly on a 329-game VFL/AFL career from 1978-1994.
He captained the club from 1990-93, won the 1985 club best and fairest, represented Victoria five times and was vice-captain in the Footscray-Western Bulldogs Team of the Century.
Meanwhile, Brad Johnson, John Jillard and Rohan Smith were inducted into the Bulldogs’ Hall of Fame.
