LAVERTON: Fire leaves family homeless

A family of seven has lost their home after a fire in Laverton.

The Woods Street home was ablaze when the Metropolitan Fire Brigade was called about 1.40am on Monday.

The family was outside the house when firefighters arrived.

Ambulance Victoria paramedics treated a man in his 30s for a minor cut to his wrist, but he did not require further assistance.

MFB communications controller Keith Robinson said the fire was brought under control in just over an hour.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Mr Robinson said the family had made their own emergency accommodation arrangements.
