Big savings for Brimbank from water harvesting

Brimbank council will save more than $200,000 each year through a $7.5 million alternative water supply project.

While the project – which includes water harvesting programs at Green Gully Reserve, Keilor Public golf course and Keilor Park Recreational Reserve – will cost $113,236 a year, it will lead to $335,400 of annual savings in drinking water purchases.

A report presented to Brimbank administrators last week said the council spent $1.4 million to set up the project with City West Water.

It plans to pay off its investment within seven years.
