Keilor Thunder is to tip off its first season in the women’s division 1 of the Victorian Basketball League with a visit to the Sunbury Jets on Sunday, March 16.
And six days later, the Thunder — which won last year’s division 2 championship with a clean sweep of the Casey Cavaliers in the grand final series — will unfurl the championship banner in the opening home game against Southern Peninsula on Saturday, March 22.
The Thunder’s top men’s team will remain in division 2, where they will travel to Coburg to take on the Giants for the season opener on March 16.
This will be one of the shortest road trips for the Thunder, who will rack up the kilometres during the season with far-away trips to Shepparton, Somerville and Wodonga.
