CARLTON: Barman dead after Lygon St stabbing

A barman has died after being stabbed in a Melbourne hotel on Sunday night.

The 51-year-old Broadmeadows man was behind the bar of University Hotel in Lygon Street, radio station 3AW reported, when he was stabbed to the upper body just after 11pm.

He was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where he later died.

A 30-year-old Templestowe man is in custody after surrendering to police.

Police believe the men knew each other.
