Regional Rail Link protest makes itself heard over noise wall

Disgruntled Brimbank residents have held a protest outside the Sunshine office of Western Metropolitan Liberal MP Bernie Finn over a perceived lack of consultation about noise walls planned for Sunshine West, Albion, Ardeer and Deer Park.

About 60 people took part in the October 1 protest against the Regional Rail Link proposal. “

Residents are very upset about the lack of genuine consultation and the fact that the decision to build this noise wall appears to be a fait accompli,” protestor Geraldine Brooks said.

As reported by the Weekly, Brimbank council announced last month it would push for another community forum to allow residents to voice their concerns.

But the Regional Rail Link Authority said no further forums were planned.

The $5 billion project will allow regional and metro trains to be separated by early 2016.
