EMERALD: Boy airlifted to hospital after near drowning

A three-year-old boy has been airlifted to hospital after nearly drowning in a lake in Emerald.

An ambulance spokeswoman said paramedics had originally feared the boy was in a serious condition after he was pulled from waters in Emerald Lake Park, Emerald, just before 6pm on Monday.

But after receiving treatment at the scene, the toddler’s condition was stabilised and he was flown to the Royal Children’s Hospital.

A hospital spokeswoman said the boy was still in a stable condition about 9.30pm.
