A Sunshine North man has been charged over the murder of Rekiah O’Donnell on October 11.
Police allege Nelson Lai, 34, who is believed to have been Ms O’Donnell’s boyfriend, shot her in a rear bedroom of a Meadowbank Drive house about 9am.
Lai appeared during a brief filing hearing at Melbourne Magistrates Court on October 14 and was remanded in custody.
Ms O’Donnell’s brother, Jesse, was among the many people who posted a tribute to his sister on social media.
“You will forever be in our hearts, mind and soul, Kiah.
‘‘I love you, now and forever until I join you in heaven.”
He also thanked family and friends for their “overwhelming rush of support and love from every direction”.
A memorial service for Ms O’Donnell was held in Essendon on Friday morning.
