Sunshine Eagles had their wings clipped on their big day, Saturday.
The Eagles’ 75th anniversary celebrations turned into a frustrating experience for their first nine in the Baseball Victoria summer league division 1.
Facing powerhouse Essendon, the Eagles were hammered 23-6 at Barclay Reserve, with the mercy rule applied after the seventh inning.
The teams wore throwback jerseys from the 1930s to mark heritage round.
