Melburnians woke this morning to fallen trees and damaged homes after battening down the hatches during a wild and windy night.
Wind gusts of up to 100 km/h kept the State Emergency Service busy all night, as they responded 2196 requests for help across the state since midnight.
In total, 29 SES vehicles attended hundreds of calls for assistance around Melbourne relating to fallen trees, building damage or traffic hazards.

Melbourne’s busiest region was Oakleigh with 149 requests for assistance.
Wyndham SES responded to 131 requests, and Altona responded to 120.
Nunawading SES, which services Boroondara, responded to 123 requests for assistance including a house in Loch Street, Kew, which had its roof blown off.
Malvern SES responded to 75 requests, with the majority occurring in Malvern and Malvern East.
No injuries have been reported to the SES.
SES spokesperson Toby Borella said the amount of requests for help was “not surprising”.
“With such strong winds it is hard for everybody to properly prepare their properties and it’s not always possible to take every precaution,” Mr Borella said.
