Woman arrested over Sydenham carjacking

A woman has been arrested over a carjacking carried out at knifepoint in Sydenham.

A 24-year-old Hillside driver was stopped at a boom gate on the Melton Highway on Wednesday night when she was confronted by an armed woman, police say.

The victim fled after the woman got into the car and demanded she drive her away from the scene. The victim told reporters she was terrified and shocked by the ordeal.

A 30-year-old woman was arrested in the car park of a licensed premises at the intersection of Gourlay Road and the Melton Highway in Taylors Hill on Thursday afternoon.

Police found  the missing vehicle in the same car park.
