IT will take up to three months for two “extensively damaged” shelters to be replaced at a Durham Road bus stop in Sunshine.
Resident Allan Radford, who sent photos to the Weekly of an elderly gentleman sitting on an overturned shopping trolley waiting for a bus, said the second shelter was there only last week.
“It must have happened in the past few days, there was still glass on the ground,” he said.
“The first one was removed three to four months ago.”
Mr Radford said he felt sorry for the man who he believed to have been in his 70s.
“I was helping him across the road when I noticed the shelters had been removed.”
“Luckily he only had to wait a couple of minutes for a bus.”
A Public Transport Victoria spokesperson said it could take up to three months for the shelters to be replaced.
“Due to an incident, the bus shelters on Durham Road had to be removed as they were extensively damaged,” he said.
“The bus shelters will be replaced as soon as possible by Adshel, but may take up to three months to replace.”
