NORTH Sunshine Eagles Soccer Club was free to play at the weekend
after Football Federation Victoria’s appeals board delayed a decision on
its possible expulsion from state league north-west until next Monday.
As reported by the Weekly, the club had originally been suspended by the FFV’s independent tribunal on July 26 on a charge of misconduct.
The suspension followed a “violent incident” after a match against Sporting Whittlesea on June 29.
As well as being suspended, the club had all its premiership
points taken away and was hit with a $15,000 fine. The decision was
suspended on appeal.
A final ruling will be made next Monday, after the board heard only part of the appeal last week.
“The chair of the appeals board has granted another stay of
execution of penalty that allows all teams to play in competition until
the appeals board reconvenes on August 26,” a federation spokesman said.
