SUNSHINE and District Historical Society launched its first pictorial book last Sunday, and there could be another in the works.
Three Brimbank authors – husband and wife team Ken and Joan Nathan, and Melchior Bajada – collaborated for a year to produce Snapshots of Sunshine and District.
The book showcases the history, culture and diversity of the area through text and photographs.
“There was so much information to collate, we couldn’t use it all, so there could be another book,” said Ms Nathan, whose great-grandfather rebuilt the historic Braybrook Hotel.
“We were blown away by the support we received.
“Some great grandchildren of Sunshine’s earliest settlers from the 1850s, the Durham family, attended the launch so it was really exciting.”
The book is for sale or loan from Brimbank libraries. Details: 9740 8001 or jknathan@bigpond.net.au.
