FIRE has torn through a furniture showroom in St Albans.
A Metropolitan Fire Brigade spokesman said more than 50 firefighters were called to the blaze in Gooding Street about 5.05am on Thursday.
It took fire crews just under an hour to bring the fire under control.
With smoke lingering in the area, the MFB issued a warning for residents in streets west of Gooding Street to close their windows and doors.
Several surrounding streets have also been closed as a result of the fire.
Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the blaze.
