BRIMBANK council chairman John Watson says the council wants to start work on improving Bunting and Jones roads in Brooklyn early in 2014.
Brooklyn Residents Action Group’s Bert Boere said monitoring industry and Environment Protection Authority enforcement was an urgent priority.
“You’ve got to look at the operation of the companies in there, and whether their sites are sealed or not,” he said. “That comes in to the realm of Brimbank council and the EPA as well.”
Between January 2010 and June 2012, the EPA issued 35 notices to businesses in the area to improve dust management practices.
The next community meeting is at Brooklyn Community Hall, Cypress Avenue, Brooklyn, from 6.30pm on August 14.
