CONSTRUCTION of a new learning centre in Sunshine could begin late next year after Brimbank council applied for $1.1 million in federal funding for two major projects.
The council has nominated the proposed Western Region Business and Community Learning Exchange and an upgrade to a shared pathway at Taylors Creek for the latest round of the Regional Development Australia Fund.
“The exchange will be an easily accessible, centrally located place for businesses, students and communities across Melbourne’s western region and beyond to learn, gather, network and grow in the heart of Sunshine,” council infrastructure and environment director Paul Younis said.
“The shared trail will complete a missing section of an all-weather trail linking Brimbank Park to Taylors Creek linear park to encourage residents to engage with the features of the river valley.”
Mr Younis said the pathway should be completed by 2014 and the exchange by 2016.
