Woman attacked in St Albans

A WOMAN has suffered serious facial injuries after being punched to
the face during an indecent assault in St Albans last Saturday night.

The 25-year-old was treated at Western Hospital in Footscray for a broken eye socket and nose after being attacked about 10pm.

Investigators
say the woman got off a train at Ginifer railway station and was
walking along Camara Street when she noticed a man behind her.

The woman started to run and the man punched her to the head, knocking her to ground.

The
offender, who is perceived as being of Asian appearance, attempted to
kiss her and remove her clothing and she began kicking and punching
him.

The man then punched her to the face several times before running off in an unknown direction.

The woman staggered to a house on Camara Street and raised the alarm.

The offender is described as being aged about 25, slim to medium build, about 165 centimetres, with short dark hair.

Detectives from Footscray Sexual Offence and Child Abuse
Investigation Team are investigating and would like to speak to any
witnesses.

Police have released a partial FACE image of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their investigation.
