Grant honours Diggers’ legacy in Keilor

KEILOR’S cenotaph will be given a spruce-up thanks to a $7000 state government grant.

Brimbank council’s city development director, Stuart Menzies, says restoration works will include two bronze swords and a clean-up of the concrete cenotaph to remove rust staining.

A white picket fence was replaced, four commemorative plaques installed and landscaping works completed as part of recent improvements.

Keilor Historical Society president Susan Jennison said the improvements enhanced a memorial that recognises the service of residents across all wars.

‘‘It’s about lest we forget, and we are not forgetting the sacrifice they have made.”
