St Albans East Primary School pupils fly the flag for diversity

PUPILS at St Albans East Primary School celebrated their heritage during last week’s Education Week.

Children from all grades created flags of their own cultures to celebrate this year’s theme – languages.

Teacher Sophie Stefanidis says children got the chance to showcase their cultural heritage through songs, dance and traditional customs.

Ms Stefanidis says celebrating cultural diversity is an integral part of learning for children.

‘‘That diversity enriches the lives of children and encourages them to seek to understand others. We have so many different nationalities at the school and it’s wonderful to see the children excited to learn about their friends’ culture.’’
