Science that’s off the wall at St Albans Secondary College

ARTIST Robert Jackson is preparing to add a splash of colour to St Albans Secondary College.

The Albion resident will complete a science-themed mural for the school as part of Brimbank Council’s ‘Art Spaces’ project, which provides emerging artists with an area to create works to be displayed throughout the municipality.

Mr Jackson (pictured) says the 64-panel oil-paint mural will explore themes like biology, mathematics and space and depict famous scientists such as Newton, Einstein and Pythagoras.

Mr Jackson says he “can’t praise the council highly enough” for the opportunities provided to the art community through the project.

“[The mural] was much too big for my home studio, so having the space provided for me is fantastic.”

He says he’s excited the community will benefit from Art Spaces. There will be an open day at the Keilor art shed on Kennedy Street from 2pm on Saturday. The council is inviting expressions of interest from artists wishing to use spaces.
