A WOMAN pushing a child in a pram was grabbed by the throat and sexually assaulted in a frightening broad-daylight ordeal in Sunshine North.
Police said the woman was pushing the pram along Holehouse Street about 3pm on Tuesday when a man approached her from behind.
He grabbed hold of the woman and forced his hand down her top.
After a struggle, the pair fell to the ground, with the man eventually grabbing the woman by the throat.
He then attempted to kiss her and put his hand down her pants.
The man fled after local residents arrived on the scene.
While the child was uninjured, the woman sustained minor injuries to her hands and upper body.
Police said the man was believed to be of Asian appearance, chubby, and was wearing a navy blue t-shirt and shorts with white ankle socks during the attack.
Detectives from Footscray Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team are investigating the incident.
