A MAN has been charged with the murder of a woman who was shot dead in St Albans on Sunday morning.
As many as five people were inside a Currunghi Court house when the Keilor Downs woman was fatally wounded with a shotgun about 5am.
Jovan Jogic, 22, was arrested about 8.30pm on Sunday and taken to Sunshine Police Station, where he was charged with one count of murder, one count of conduct endangering life and one count of recklessly causing serious injury.
The Sunshine man faced an out-of-sessions court hearing and was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court on Monday.
Detective Senior Sergeant Ron Iddles said on Sunday that it was not known if a gun was accidentally discharged but he urged a man who left the house immediately after the shooting to contact police.
He said the man and 21-year-old woman had been in a bedroom inside the house.
“There might have been illicit drug use but there’s no argument over drugs,” Senior Sergeant Iddles said.
The man was believed to have left the scene in a small red car, believed to be a Toyota. “We understand he is known to the occupants so we’re appealing to him to surrender himself and come forward,” Senior Sergeant Iddles said.
