AUDIENCES are being promised they will be kept on the edge of their seats during Sunshine Community’s Theatre’s first production of the year, Wait Until Dark.
Local actors Andrea Mendez, D’arcy Withsed and Rowan Forster will star in a remake of the Frederick Knott thriller, under the direction of Sunshine’s Cameron Tougher.
The play tells the story of Susy Hendriz, a blind Greenwich Village housewife who’s targeted by three conmen when her husband Sam hides some heroin in a doll.
“There are a lot of twists and turns in this play,” Tougher says. “Her husband innocently transported the drugs for a woman from Canada but unbeknown to him she has since been murdered, and the story unravels from there.
“I still get goosebumps every time I watch it as it’s terrifying at times and at others very emotional and pulls on the heartstrings.”
Tougher says the cast is a mix of new and veteran actors.
Wait Until Dark runs from April 12-20 at Demspter Park Hall, 82 Phoenix Street, North Sunshine. Tickets: $15 adults, $12 concession. Details: sunshinecommunitytheatre.com.au
