If you go down to the woods today . . .

CHILDREN with autism like Alex, 7, and Kon, 12 (pictured), will be celebrated at a teddy bears’ picnic on April 7.

“We want parents to know their children do have a place in our community,” says Dina Tamburro, president of north-west support group Autism Angels.

“It’s also about showing parents that there’s a strong support network in the north-west. It’s important for these families to know they aren’t alone and that they can make connections with other parents having the same experiences.”

Children are encouraged to bring a teddy bear. There will also be a jumping castle, face-painting, a music and dance corner, fairies and hip-hop artists.

Families are encouraged to bring their own picnic basket, and they can buy sausages and drinks.

The picnic is from 11am-3pm at Harvey Lagoon Reserve, Old Calder Highway, Keilor. Details: 0404 522 226.
