Misplaced intentions

Two St Albans teens have been charged after trying to rob a cyclist in front of police. Brimbank investigators were conducting an operation in Sunshine’s CBD when the incident occurred at the intersection of Hampshire Road and McDonald Lane about 11.30pm last Tuesday. The youths, 17 and 14, were charged with robbery and assault.

Lights ‘run’, woman hurt

A St Albans woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after the driver of a Nissan sedan ran a red light at the intersection of Kings Way and Queens Road last Thursday morning. The woman, 21, who was alone in her car, was in a stable condition on Friday. Police said the male driver returned a positive preliminary breath test and was driving on a suspended licence. He will be charged on summons.

Man on murder count

Detectives have charged a Fitzroy man following the disappearance of a St Albans man in January. The man, 28, was arrested in Alma Street, Fitzroy, about 8am last Thursday. He was charged with one count of murder and will face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court at a later date. The charges relate to the alleged death of a St Albans man, 35, at an address on Minter Road, Johnsonville on January 6. The victim’s body has not been located.

Sleepy at the wheel

A Kings Park man, found slumped over the wheel of a stolen car, was arrested by police in Sunshine West on February 18. He will appear before Melbourne Magistrates Court tomorrow.
