VTCA: Keilor Blues pull out a double whammy

AARON Mato put Keilor in the box seat against Spotswood in the Victorian Turf Cricket Association senior division at McLean Reserve on Saturday.

Mato blasted 127 from the top of the order to produce the bulk of his side’s 218 off 68.5 overs.

The Woodsmen stuttered to stumps on 3-25 after a devastating three-wicket spell to Blues quick Jody Hutchinson late in the day.

In north division, the game between finals hunters Keilor Park and Williamstown CYMS is evenly poised at Fearon Reserve.

CYs could manage only 186 off 65.4, but the Devils’ response was no more convincing, limping to stumps on 2-12.

Sunshine Druids have a red-hot chance of making it back-to-back wins for the first time this summer.

The relegation-threatened Druids were 0-25 in reply to Westmeadows’ below par score of 182.

In north A1, St Albans has outright on its mind against East Keilor when play resumes at Kings Park Reserve on Saturday.

Easts were bowled out for a mediocre 65 in 25 overs after the first part of the Andrew Pizaro show included a 12-over haul of 5-28. He maintained the rage with the bat, scoring 58 as the Saints coasted to 189 off 52 overs and had first innings points under wraps.

Taylors Lakes, desperate for a victory to remain in touch with the top four, posted 211 against Aberfeldie (0-5) on the back of an unbeaten 79 to John Markham.

Bottom of the ladder Sunshine United is in a spot of bother after making just 108 at West Coburg (1-15).

In west B1, St Andrews made a competitive 222, but not before Sunshine Heights second change bowler Dilum Samarasinghe took 7-87.

Sunshine YCW is in trouble against top side Werribee Centrals at Kinder Smith Reserve. YCW was 6-49 in reply to the Centurions 201.

Meanwhile, Kealba-Green Gully has battered Roxburgh Park-Broadmeadows for 3-343 declared in the North West Metropolitan Cricket Association Luscombe Shield.

The Cougars leader Andrew Lambropoulos made a stunning 179 not out and had assistance from Matthew Nadzielski (65) and Daniel Hewitt (55 not out).
