Change your preference, change your life

YEAR 12 graduates have until Christmas Eve to change their tertiary study preferences, with VCE results having been posted online yesterday.

But for those who didn’t achieve the score they had hoped for, there are alternative study pathways available through Victoria University and other tertiary institutions.

Kath Curry, acting executive of VU’s technical and trades innovation faculty, says everyone needs to take a deep breath.

“There’s more than one way to achieve your career goals,” she said.

“Not getting the results you may have wanted can be an opportunity to discover a new direction.”

VU has course information sessions tomorrow and Thursday afternoon at the Footscray Park campus in Ballarat Road.

Staff will be on hand to give advice, provide information and help with alternative course selections.

Sessions run 4-7pm at the lecture theatre, L114 in building L.

Ms Curry says VU is one of only a few Australian universities that offer higher education and TAFE courses.

She says this lets students transfer easily from an apprenticeship, certificate, diploma or advanced diploma to a degree course.

A new trades facility at the VU Sunshine campus is set to open in February, and construction of a health science building at St Albans is also under way.

VCE graduates can log into their Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre accounts to change preferences, or call VU on 1300 842 864.

The first round of VTAC offers will be released on January 17.
