DOZENS of north-west men and women signed a pledge against family violence as part of White Ribbon Day (Sunday).
Taylors Lakes resident Zlatko Serovski said he felt compelled to sign this year. “My wife has just recently given birth to our baby son so I thought it was more important than ever to show that I’m against family violence or any other kind of violence there is,” he said.
A signing took place at Keilor MP Natalie Hutchins’ office last Wednesday. Ms Hutchins said it was important to raise awareness and stop an increase of violent behaviour in the area.
From July 2011 to June 2012, 491 family violence assaults were recorded, compared to 143 the year before.
