The Western Region Football League division 1 season kicks off this weekend with all four Brimbank-based teams in action.

Albion will have a great chance to get an early win under its belt when the Cats take on division 1 newcomer Wyndhamvale at Wyndhamvale South Oval.

Albion has welcomed a host of former players back to the club in the off season, notably Josh Bench, who played in the VFL with Williamstown last year.

Also rejoining the club are James Taylor, Jeremy Mills and Troy Kelm.

Elsewhere, St Albans will play its first game under new coach Fabian Carelli.

The Saints will take on Hoppers Crossing in an away fixture at Hogans Road. Rounding out the action, premiership favourite Deer Park faces Sunshine at Kinder Smith Reserve.
