Western United will finally return to the field on Friday night in the A-League.

United hasn’t played since Boxing Day with three matches postponed due to COVID-19 cases in the club.

They were set to play on Wednesday night against Newcastle Jets, but that has been postponed due to rising COVID-19 cases within the Jets squad.

It means United return match will be against Wellington Phoenix on Friday night.

The match though has been changed to a Wellington home fixture at WIN Stadium in Wollongong.

Players have been back on the training pitch with John Aloisi and the coaching staff looking to continue the strong start to the season, where United won four of its first six games.

Western United will work with all relevant parties to reschedule postponed matches at the most appropriate time.

United’s next home match will be on January 29.
