Western United’s incredible start to the A-League Women’s season has continued with two second half goals to Matildas’ star Chloe Logarzo sealing victory against Melbourne City.

Coming off the bye, it was United that opened the scoring in the first half with Adriana Taranto finding the net from long range on Saturday.

City levelled the scores just before half time.

A second-half penalty save from Hillary Beall kept the scores level until Chloe Logarzo took over, scoring first with a stunning strike from distance to give United back the lead.

The result was sealed when Logarzo converted a penalty in injury time to give United the 3-1 win and take the team back to the top of the ladder.

Speaking on the post game coverage, the Dub Zone, Logarzo said it was nice to get back on the score sheet.

Coming back from a serious knee injury, Logarzo has started every game on the bench before coming on in the second half.

“It feels really good to be back on the scoresheet,” she said.

“Out there with the girls it was a really good fight back, I feel we’ve been doing most of the year, it’s nice to get three points.

“It has been hard coming back and playing. I’ve really tried to enjoy the process.

“I’m not as fit as I normally am… I’m a bit sick at the moment, so I’m just enjoying being able to be out there and keep playing as I haven’t played for a really long time.

One of the more experienced players in the United line up, Logarzo has taken on a real leadership role at the club.

She said it’s part of the reason why she came to the club.

“I wanted to be able to create a culture that is like no other that I have gotten from all around the world,” she said.

“The girls are really receptive to information and I couldn’t ask for a better group of girls to be here with.

“It’s really nice to sit down and have a conversation with them and they take on board everything that I have to say.”

Logarzo said the professionalism of the playing group had exceeded all her expectations and that United was where she needed to be right now.

Like many of the other players have said, Logarzo said the group was pretty special.

“You don’t get this very often with a team where everyone wants to work for each other, it’s just amazing to be able to be here,” she said.

“I just love being part of it and everyone really wants to be successful, so that team culture is being really driven on the field off the field when we’re at training when we’re not at training.

United’s next match is on December 28 against the Newcastle Jets.
