Caroline Springs will be hoping to make the most of its second chance in the Western Region Football League women’s competition finals.
The Lakers faced the toughest test in the competition in a semi-final on Saturday morning – unbeaten Manor Lakes.
Manor Lakes is the red hot favourite for the premiership and the only team to beat the Lakers this season.
The Storm showed exactly why it is the favourite, winning 9.13 (67)-0.7 (7).
After taking it up to the Storm the first two times the teams played this season, the Lakers were hoping to do the same this time around.
They failed.
In the first quarter, the Storm had one more scoring shot, but was up by 16 points at the first break thanks to superior conversion.
The margin was almost doubled by half-time with the Storm doing all the scoring in the second quarter.
The Storm kicked two goals in each quarter of the second half for a comprehensive win.
The Lakers will face Spotswood in a preliminary final this weekend. Spotswood defeated Laverton 5.4 (34)-1.5 (11).
The Lakers are familiar with Spotswood, having beaten them by 23 points in the first week of the finals.
The Lakers men’s reserves and under-19s had mixed results.
The reserves side defeated Deer Park in a qualifying final 7.6 (48)-5.8 (38).
The under-19s lost to Hoppers Crossing, 10.12 (72)-10.5 (65).
