Keilor Thunder has announced its first signings for its inaugural season in the NBL1 south competition.
The Thunder is hoping to make an impact in the new competition, after coming across from the Big V competition.
Jacob Lampkin is the first new signing for the men’s team.
Lampkin joins the club from the Keysborough Cougars, who this year were undefeated in Big V division 1 competition.
Lampkin led the division in average rebounds per game with 13.31, while averaging nearly 19 points a game.
He was also top 10 for assists per game.
The Thunder’s Facebook post said fans should keep an eye out for Lampkin’s tremendous finishing around the basket and passing out of the post.
Coach Liam Glacott had previously said they had been building their side for a tilt at playing in the higher competition and looking to build around that.
A familiar face is the first signing for the women’s side, with Ellen Kett re-signing with the club.
Kett has played a pivotal role in the club’s championship women’s side for a number of years and is expected to play a key role next year.
Kett averaged nearly 11 points and a team high seven and half rebounds a game this year.
The club has already reappointed Liam Glascott and Tom Bandilovski as their men’s and women’s coaches respectively.
The Thunder are one of two new sides to join the NBL 1 South competition, the other being Casey Basketball Association.
