Braybrook College’s senior boys soccer team has made history, crowned state champions in September after a tough final at the FFV State Football Centre at Darebin International Sports Centre.
It’s the first time the school has achieved the feat, trumping 150 others from across Victoria.
The talented playing group made state finals in 2012, back when they were all year 8 students.
This year it won on penalties, 4-3, after a tense shootout against Thornbury College when scores were locked at 0-0 after full and extra time.
Winning coach Con Lekakis said the win was celebrated by the school’s diverse cultural communities, including Burmese, African and South American students.
Melbourne Victory has now invited the team to tour AAMI stadium.
